With the rapid development of industrial manufacturing technology, the automation and intelligence level of production factories in various industries is increasing. Various types of industrial robots such as collaborative robots, robotic arms, and mobile robots are gradually becoming standard equipment for smart factories. Robotic arms replace manual labor to complete most of the production automation processes, greatly improving production efficiency and productivity, while UR mobile robots achieve automatic docking and circulation of logistics in various links, thus realizing unmanned production.

Since the outbreak, the application of UR robots has received more attention. On the front line of epidemic prevention, robots are responsible for tasks such as delivering food and medicine, assisting in medical care, temperature measurement and disinfection, reducing the possibility of cross infection and improving efficiency. In the recent resumption of work and production, enterprises with high levels of automation and intelligence have been less affected by the "labor shortage". The value of UR industrial robots in areas such as public security patrols, industrial manufacturing, catering and retail, logistics and distribution, rehabilitation and medical care has been further highlighted. It can be said that in the future, industrial robots will play an increasingly important role in the transformation of old and new kinetic energy in China.

For traditional industrial robotic arms, the working range is limited due to the fixed position of the body and the limitation of the arm length on the movement radius. Many companies have begun to attempt to match and assemble robotic arms with mobile robots, forming "composite robots" that can handle more processes and functions. The intention is that robotic arms can reach places that were previously inaccessible, and workplaces are no longer restricted, in order to meet the needs of flexible production of automated equipment in workshops.

UR composite robot is a new type of robot with both hand and foot functions. In the past, in the robotics industry, typical industrial robots were called robotic arms. Intelligent mobile robots are used to replace the functions of human legs and feet to move and control direction. The UR composite robot combines the advantages of both hands and feet, combining their functions together. However, traditional industrial robotic arms are not suitable as "hands" for composite robots due to their bulky body, large load capacity for autonomous mobile robots, excessively rigid arm length, and lack of safety assurance. Therefore, the idea of using collaborative robots to replace industrial robotic arms as "hands" was proposed. Compared with traditional industrial robots, UR cooperative robots have much smaller loads, are cheaper and easier to use. More importantly, they have strong adaptability, flexibility, and high security. Compared with industrial robots that have been developed for decades, UR collaborative robots can directly collaborate with workers on the production site, ensuring safety, improving automation and work efficiency.

Mobile robots, as the "feet" of composite robots, are an important component of UR composite robots. According to navigation methods, there are mainly magnetic stripe navigation, QR code navigation, laser SLAM navigation, and visual navigation. Laser SLAM guided mobile robots have become the main choice for most composite robots due to their advantages such as stable navigation, strong environmental adaptability, and autonomous movement.
